The Optimist Club of Monroe Inc. won second place in the Ohio Optimist scrapbook competition at Akron August 24 25, placing behind Dorwood Club of Dayton among over 50 clubs. It also received a friend of Youth Award given to eight of 109 Ohio clubs. The Monroe club organized September 30 1973, less than a year old.
