Memorial Day Observed in Union Township Parade and Services

Union Township will observe Memorial Day on May 26 with a 1:30 p.m. parade from Union Elementary School through Cincinnati perce Road to Beckett Cemetery. Services at 2:00 p.m. will feature Dr. C T Howell delivering the main address, with clergy from Pisgah Church of the Nazarene and the West Chester United Presbyterian Church providing invocation and benediction. A cemetery program emceed by Larry Gandler will include floral tributes coordinated by three garden clubs. Parade participants include police, fire and life squad units, Lakota band, 4H Horse Club, scouts and women’s clubs, with staging at 12:30 p.m. and registration for the bike contest by 12:15 p.m.

Union Township Jaycees Sponsor See Swee Day Bike Contest

Union Township Jaycees host a decorated bike contest during the West Chester See Swee Day parade for riders under 15. Prizes donated by Wobbly Wheel Schwinn Bike Shop include a bicycle generator light and merchandise. Entries meet 12:00 to 12:15 p.m. at Union School area. entry fees due then. Winners announced at Memorial Day ceremonies. prizes awarded by Union Township trustee Larry Gundler.

Monroe Memorial Day Service Set for May 26 at North Cemetery

Monroe honors Memorial Day Monday May 26 at North Cemetery with a 1 PM service led by Dr. Charles D Gorman a 1965 Monroe High School graduate and Air Force Institute of Technology PhD candidate. Master of ceremonies James Anderson and Rev Neil Parker preside. The Miami University ROTC Flight will lay the wreath. Monroe Garden Club furnished the wreath. Mayor Seth Johnson gives the welcome while Monroe High School Band performs.

Mini-Fair Preview At PYO Grounds Route 42

The Go Youth Organization hosts its Sixth Annual Mini-Fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to dark at the PYO Grounds Route 42. Activities include rides booths shows bake sale and concessions with a parade and a day full of events.

Monroe Council to decide on Wyncrest Court PUD report

Monroe's council voted to ask the Planning and Zoning Commission for a decision on the Wyncrest Court PUD. The commission returned its report after a public hearing on May 8. The commission had earlier voted against rezoning. the council will hear the report only if the commission approves. James Miller sought a PUD rezoning for four Wyncrest Court lots to permit a 12 unit condominium.

Lakota High Spring Concert Planned For May Twenty Ninth

Lakota High plans a spring concert in the high school auditorium featuring the symphonic and concert bands Hughestation Lakota Jazz Band and ensembles. Council sets May 28 public hearing on a sewer study and June 17 budget hearing on 13571 Revenues Sharing funds. Wendel Howland named probationary police officer. ordinance transfers 3600 to Sewer Expansion Fund. Bicentennial meeting set for June 15. Next council meeting June 3 at 8 p.m.

Liberty Township group seeks Hughes School restoration move
