Union trustees seek county road work and new patrolman

Union Township plans to ask Butler County for county work on 17.5 miles of roads in 1973. Trustee Emile Munch says 11.1 miles for blacktopping and 6.4 miles for tar and chip will be submitted, with actual work to be determined by the county. The board also hires Randy Palmieri as a part time patrolman and approves tuition for Harold Scratch to attend Smith-Wesson Academy.

New Union Township Library Planned in Pisgah Site

A new 2,000 square foot Union Township library is planned in a John Road business building between West Chester and Route 42 Pisgah. It will seat 12 and hold 5,000 volumes with space rented from Pisgah developers John Scott and Bill Bornemann.

Burglars Loot Three Apartments in Cincinnati Suburb Break-Ins

Union Township police report two adjacent apartments at Fountains Apartments on Cincinnati Dayton Road were burglarized Sunday evening with about $2,000 taken and a third unit damaged. Items include stereo equipment and jewelry. one screen door was cut while entries likely came through unlocked patio doors. No residents were home. Morris and Doner cases may be linked, Hasselbach may be separate.

Lakota Thunderbirds upset fourth seed Indian Hill 47 44 at Millett Auditorium, earning a second round date with Fairfield. Lakota high school beat Indian Hill 47-44 in a tight boys basketball showdown as Lakota utilized a strong interior effort from Steve Jones and Gary Caudill and clutch late free throws from Mike Sears. Fairfield and Princeton also advanced, setting up Millett Auditorium showdowns next week.

Three Men Sought After Pisgah Lounge Interior Damage

Police seek three men responsible for about 900 in damage at Pisgah Sportsman's Lounge 9151 Ace Road Saturday. Owner Lari Combs was lightly injured and declined hospital care after the trio became angry around 2:50 a.m. They threw billiard balls, broke a clock and a juke box, ripped cloth from a pool table, looted two pinball machines, and took 80.

Nursing homes sue state for 232000 over emergency generators

Seven Cincinnati and two Butler County facilities led by Byrnes Convalescent Center and The Willows Nursing Home claim Ohio Department of Health officials pressured them to install costly emergency power generators for heating. The suit seeks 174235 punitive and 58074 compensatory damages plus costs, naming Robert C. Kauer Samuel Fraley Louise Parrett Dr. John Cashman and Russell Dafler. The Willows sits at 9117 Cincinnati Columbus Road Pisgah.

Port Union sewer plan approved expansion to 150 000 gallons

Port Union sewage treatment plant will expand from 50 000 to 150 000 gallons daily. Estimated cost is 160 000 dollars funded by existing rates with no assessments to property owners. Construction to start late March or early April with full operation planned by summer. facilities to be absorbed into Mill Creek drainage after expansion.
