Union trustees clear way for public street lights

The Union Township Trustees move to establish 25 lighting districts to install streetlights funded via real estate taxes. CG&E estimates about 12 dollars yearly per home with a 5 year contract as the likely term. Petition processes and hearings will determine final district boundaries and installation timelines.

Atlas of Butler County revisited in 1875 maps edition

The Journal Publishing Company released a 168 page reproduction of the 1875 Atlas of Butler County with ads from 1975 and a 1987 Business Directory listing local leaders. Price is 1.50 for 7,500 copies, with 50 copies available at the Monroe-ULJ office in Maud. Union Township bike safety inspection set for July 26 at Hopewell Elementary and Hy Crest Swim Club.

Copies cost 1.50 over the counter or 2 by mail and are sold at Journal-News offices Hamilton Fairfield Maud and other outlets. The issue notes Stickels family ties and his role in Union Township and Maud including Civil War service and Medal of Honor.
