Lakota Board approves 5.29 million bond for Nov ballot

Lakota Board of Education votes to place a 5.29 million dollar bond issue on the November 4 ballot to fund new elementary and middle schools a bus garage maintenance center and renovations. The plan echoes prior failed proposals amid rising costs with some members noting potential tax relief from lower interest rates.

Vicky Shanklin, 17, daughter of Mrs. Mildred Mills of Liberty Township, was reported missing to the Butler County Sheriff. Last seen Tuesday in Fenton at The St. Louis Truck Port, seeking a ride westbound. She suffers from a mental condition. call 867-5704 with any information.

Monroe Council Receives Annual Operating Budget

The Village of Monroe presented its 1976 fiscal year budget to the council on Tuesday and it was approved unanimously. The plan covers general operations water sewer garbage streets state highway cemetery street lights fire tax levy federal revenue sharing special assessments and general retirement bonds.

Mayor, computer contract service approval, back pay for Patrolman Wilbur, cemetery mower funding after theft, Ed Woodward named building inspector. Butler County Sheriff Harold J. Carpenter warned area businesses about solicitations from a fake State Police and Sheriff’s Manual published by Liberty Publishing Co. The Mail drop operation sent invoices for ads to Middletown firms. one firm was billed $195.50. Cincinnati FBI and local chambers are assisting in the probe.
