Union Township Trustees face a 39 thousand dollar bill for flasher lights and shortarm gates at Station Road crossing in West Chester. They plan to request partial or full aid from Butler County and review bids for a new modular ambulance while awaiting a radio center grant decision.
Countryside Village Mobile Home Park at 5050 Hamilton Middletown Road along with the Ladies Homemaker Club contributed 800 to fund a new Liberty Township ambulance life squad. The $500 cash donation from the park and $300 from the club mark the largest gifts to date supporting the community emergency unit.
Emile Munch named to the township board replacing the late James Richards as Jim Williams becomes president and Larry Gandler vice president. Full time radio dispatchers planned for police and fire. Land deal with two residents for 15 000 square foot lots on Tylersville Road ends after a referendum threat.
Liberty Township Trustees held an organizational meeting last week swearing in John Magie as trustee and Bob James as township clerk. Morris Van Gorden was re elected board president Arthur Baird named vice president Henry Taylor re appointed fire chief with others to be chosen by the chief. Ralph Ring named road foreman with Joe Condon as assistant. A $7500 transfer to cover early 1974 and a committee to draft fire truck specifications were approved. A fire indemnity committee was formed and a monthly meeting set for January 21 with standard 1974 meetings on the second Monday.
Buford Pusser, the Warren County sheriff known for the Walking Tall era, accepts an invitation to Lebanon for January 10 and 11. The 32 year old has long given talks to police and civilians and will attend a Colony Square Cinema screening, then speak to law enforcement and families, followed by a general audience.
