Munch named to Union Two Board of Trustees

Emile Munch 36 a GOP activist and veteran of zoning clashes was appointed to Union Township Board of Trustees to fill the vacancy created by James Richards death. He will serve the remaining ten months of Richards term. Jim Williams was named board president and Larry Gandler vice president. Munch aims to expand township powers, push for incorporation, attract industry, and improve sewers and roads. He and his wife live in Pisgah with three children. he works in engineering.

Williams elected President and township board actions outlined

Williams was elected president and pledged no change in performance. Gandler supported this view while noting duties include conducting and coordinating meetings. The board kept liaisons with township department heads mostly unchanged with Munch added to coordinate road department. Police and fire liaisons remained Williams and Gandler respectively. Full and part time police, dispatchers, and life squad salaries were set, and Fire Chief George Hall was reappointed with a $500 yearly salary. Woodrow Stewart rehired as cemetery superintendent at $8,200, Bob McGuire kept as road foreman at $3.65 per hour, and other road salaries ranged from $3.45 to $2.70. Citizens Bank in Pisgah retained as fund depository. monthly meetings kept for second and fourth Tuesdays at Township Hall, John Road.

Lakota School Board reorganizes. hires two teachers

Lakota board elects Koy Maddox as president and Robert Niederman as vice president in a 1973 reorganization. Superintendent Herbert Henderson reports two new hires Paul Hendel to teach science at Lakota Junior School and Cathleen Hillman to teach fourth grade at Hopewell Elementary. The board plans converting the high school gym into an auditorium with three new classrooms, funded by a new behind school gym construction, with bids to follow architect approvals.

Lakota Thunderbirds forward Ron Walker earns Player of Week honors thanks to leadership and clutch passing. He averages about 16 points per game, down from 21 in late 1972, as coach Fred Davies credits his three years of varsity experience for steadying close games and team balance with Tom Shepard.

Liberty Two firehouse site eyed in Dutchland Woods plan

Liberty Township trustees and Dutchland Woods officials near agreement on a two acre land donation for a firehouse on Yankee Road within the development. The adjacent two and a half acres would be a municipal area housing a library and meeting hall open to residents, with an additional site donated to Lakota School District for a future school.

Liberty trustees keep board leadership unchanged

The Liberty Township Board of Trustees reconfirmed its leadership after a 1973 meeting. President Morris Van Gorden and vice-president Arthur Baird were reelected, with Jack Shannon as the third member. Henry Taylor was appointed chief of the Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department. Ralph Ring and Joe Condon were hired as laborers. next meeting is Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Township Hall on Princeton Pike.
