Trustees approve mutual aid pact with Sharonville police

Union Township Trustees vote unanimously to sign a three year mutual aid agreement with Sharonville police ensuring aid between Union Township and the Sharonville department. The pact includes liability waivers for injuries to officers while helping outside their jurisdictions and follows prior Miami Valley Police Association arrangements.

Fire district votes admission fee for seminar in Wilmington

The board approved a $20 admission fee for one fireman to attend a fire photography seminar January 7-8 in Wilmington. Goodwill Industries reported thefts from donation boxes, including Union Township Hall on John Road, and police will aid in control. Goodwill will prosecute thefts as stated in their letter.

Radar survey finds 30 mph in 20 mph school zone

Union Township police announced December radar results show average speeds over 30 mph on Cincinnati Dayton Road in front of Union School. Most violators had just exited northbound I 75, prompting calls for warning lights or signs to improve awareness.

Proposed rapid transit could bug in ULJ land

The Journal News reports Middletown, not Hamilton, may host a stop on a proposed rapid transit rail line linking Cincinnati Columbus and Cleveland. PUCO and Amtrak officials warn the project is in early study, with possible costs and routes still undetermined and a final plan not assured.
