Monroe Hires Four Full Time Dispatchers For Village
Four full time dispatchers have been hired for the Village of Monroe. Two are already on duty with two more starting after year’s end. Names and addresses of the new dispatchers are listed along with plans to train with Butler County or the State Highway Patrol. The village seeks space for a new hall and forms a committee including new and current council members to study the Corner Store option. A special meeting is set for December 30 to cover bills, appropriations, and bids, with the next regular council session January 7, 1975.

Lakota Kiwanis Club named Linton Marshall, Lloyd Cockerham, and Buddy Hamblin as Citizens of the Month for a spontaneous rescue last summer. Linton swam into floodwaters to save a friend, became trapped in a culvert, and was held afloat for about 15 minutes until neighbors and rescue teams arrived.

CG&E seeks 25 percent electric rate hike in PUCO filing
The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company asks the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for a 25 percent rate increase affecting about 149,700 customers. In Butler County 19,500 customers would see the rise, boosting annual revenue by 37.8 million dollars, with an 8.6 percent interim surcharge proposed to begin immediately for 11.2 million dollars more per year. The current average residential bill is 32.84 dollars monthly. under the 25 percent plan it would rise to 41.06 dollars, with the surcharge lifting to 35.51 dollars temporarily.
