The first in a chief selection series was held in Union Township with 14 applicants taking an aptitude test led by Howard Miller. The process may conclude by December with a January chief appointment if a qualified candidate emerges.
Butler County commissioners announce a public hearing Thursday at 7 p.m. at Lakota Junior High School to discuss the Mill Creek Regional Sanitary Sewer Project. Project aims to provide local trunk and regional wastewater treatment serving parts of Fairfield Liberty Union townships and Pisgah West Chester Gano Port Union areas with 75 percent federal funding potential.
The Liberty Township board announced completion of construction specifications for a second firehouse at Hutchland Woods and approval of the land grant deed. Trustee Art Baird said bids will be advertised soon as construction proceeds. The board approved $2,073 for six months of firemen salaries and $332 for Emergency Squad needs. Chief Henry Taylor proposed two snow tires after bad roads, and Clerk Robert James asked for 1975 expenditure plans. Directors Denver Noggle and Cheryl Raine conduct a mix of traditional and light carols with performances by Symphonic Band Concert Band Girls Glee Club Triple Trio Chorus and Freshman Chorus. Admission is free.
Acting Monroe chief Charles Oakley resumes duties after turning in his badges when the council rejected Mayor Gordon Reed's two appointments. Oakley cites village safety concerns and the need for a fulltime patrolman as nine applications were received and more could be sought.

Ernst as president and general manager of the subsidiary, Dollar Federal savings and loan association, where he has served as vice president and general manager since November 1971. The corporation, established in October 1971, is wholly owned by Dollar Federal.
