Five accidents injure five on Union Township roads

Wet road conditions Saturday in Union Township led to five crashes. Among the injured were Mark Redder, 16, in serious condition at Mercy Hospital ICU. Randy Holt, 17, hospitalized at Bethesda North. and two Dayton men, Larry Shepherd and Charles King, treated at Bethesda North. No injuries in two Friday incidents.

Monroe Names Fireman of Year Award

Monroe Firemen awarded the Ronnie Boutson Fireman of the Year Award at a recent ceremony in Congress. Betty Schwing accepted for her deceased husband Carl Schwing. The Routsons provided a commemorative plaque in memory of their son Ronnie Routson, a former Captain with the department.

Omega gas station robbed at gunpoint on Saturday

The Omega gas station on Tylersville Road near I-75 was robbed around 12 38 a m Saturday. A man entered the office, asked for change, then beat the attendant and demanded money. Union Township police are investigating.

Blue Devil paper drive to continue

The Blue Devils Athletic Club will continue their paper drive this week. The trailer will be parked at Hopewell ey School Cox d on Saturday and Sunday, and area residents are urged to bring old papers and magazines to the collection truck.

Cadet Post 895 Forms For Liberty Township Youth

Liberty Township announces a new cadet training program for youths ages 15 to 17. An orientation meeting is set for Thursday December 18 at 7 pm in the Manstown Fire House. Gene Vance says a charter has been formed, with membership fee 4.50 per year, including required insurance. Parents may attend. Meetings occur twice monthly. Executive committee members are Henry Taylor, Gene Vance, Lucian Smith Jr., Bob Shelley and Dale Bowman.

Butler County Voed School to Organize January 14

The Butler County Joint Vocational School District will organize January 14 at 7 30 p.m. at the D Russell Lee Vocational Center. A seven member board will be elected from seven local districts with staggered terms to align with election years. The Wood school restaurant, run by students in food service, opens Tuesdays and Thursdays by reservation at extension 27 867 5900.

Dog licenses go on sale this weekend with a January 20 deadline. Each license costs 3 dollars, with a 2 dollar penalty after the deadline. Tags are available at Miami Valley Humane Society locations, Rinks and Woolco stores in Hamilton and Middletown, and the county auditor’s office on weekdays.
