The Union township fire department added two new vehicles a modular ambulance for the life squad and a light rescue unit for auto accident response funded by a fire levy and federal revenue sharing. Major donations from the township Firemen's Organization supported the purchase.
The Ladies Auxiliary and Union Township Firemen's Organization funded a new light rescue unit valued at about 20 000 dollars and built by fire department labor. Fire chief George Hall notes group effort as crews, training, and equipment upgrades boost the life squad to 600 runs in 1973 while the modular GMC van replaces the older ambulance.
Becky Conrad of the Butler County Health Board announced she will assist families in the tornado stricken area for six months. She and a coworker will be based in a Fields-Ertel McCauly trailer through October, reachable at 777-5772. Trustees discussed a possible November police levy and planned a special meeting on Gundler’s return.

Building and zoning administrator Anthony P. Cecere reports July permits in Butler County numbered 137, down from 157 in July 1973, but construction valuation rose to 2 905 058 from 2 888 928 a year ago. Fees were 9 981 versus 11 717 last year.
A trailer at 144 Bamboo St Countryside Village Trailer Park in Liberty Township burned for the third time in two months. The vacant trailer owned by William Miller escaped injury as Liberty Township firefighters responded. Earlier fires on June 12 and June 30 were linked to children with matches and a clothes dryer respectively.
The Ohio Department of Transportation seeks a venue change in a suit by Rose Hill Burial Park Inc to stop land appropriation for a highway right of way. J Phillip Richley asked the case be heard in Columbus rather than Butler County. The cemetery claims a state statute amendment allowing the land seizure is discriminatory and unconstitutional and seeks an injunction to prevent taking land near Princeton Road for Hamilton's connector to the interstate system.
The LUYO Fountains finished 3-1 in the Northern Region tournament in Greater Cincinnati. Managed by Bill Moore with assistants Fred Thurston Ray Kagrise Walt Barker and Ed Brown they earned a runner-up spot after a season that included a 12-0 District 15 title and a 15-10 exhibition win over Munafo's.
Union Township trustee vice president Dave McGinnis received a 56000 advance check from the Federal Disaster Assistance Administration to aid repairs and cleanup. The check covers part of a requested 113558 and was presented by Ohio Disaster Services Agency official Mrs Nona Dawson. Road signs remain down from the storm as the township proceeds with posting and repairs.
The Lehigh University Club of the Ohio Valley announced its 1974 75 officers led by Jeffrey D. Lowe of West Chester as secretary. The report notes Union Township final reimbursement details totaling 57 558 and county aid of 36 000 plus a 20 700 road repair supplemental request tied to tornado cleanup. More than 500 000 in debris clearance and road repairs was released Monday across five counties.
