Girl charged in Monroe death
Kathy Haddix a 17 year old Middletown resident was charged with manslaughter and parole violation in connection with the stabbing death of David Henry Boyer 20 of Monroe. She told police Boyer had attempted to assault her during a ride request and she stabbed him with a six inch steak knife. Boyer died from two chest wounds after being taken to Middletown Hospital. He leaves a wife and son. Services are planned at McCoy Leffler Funeral Home.

Ex-Union policeman charged second time
William Earhart, 38, of Hamilton, arrested Monday night for the second time in four days and charged with receiving stolen property after $2,150 in stolen office equipment was found at his home. Detectives obtained a search warrant and seized typewriters, calculators, dictaphones and more from Earhart, tied to a March 31 1969 burglary at Reading Concrete Block Corp. His prior arrest and recovery of $2,000 in items from his residence were reported last Friday. He was released last week on a $10,000 property bond and then on his own recognizance pending an arraignment this week. Police said the latest arrest followed information on additional stolen property.

Lakota Board of Education appoints Denver H. Noggle as band director for Lakota High School replacing Christopher Brandenburg. Noggle, a 1967 Miami University graduate, was Hopewell Junior School band director in 1973 74 and previously taught in Middletown City Schools 1967 1973. He resides in Middletown with his wife Donna. The Hopewell post will be filled by Judith Evans of Liberty School.

County and township reps met with Civil Defense Director Irene Lewis to review a proposed emergency siren network costing about 212,992 dollars with half from local funds and the rest eligible for federal aid. Lakota OKs 4.54 Million Bond for Two New Schools
