Cliff Choate was reappointed as Union Township recreation committee chairman by a 2-1 vote of trustees Tuesday night. Board President Larry Gandler and member Ray Rosenberger voted yes while Vice President David McGinnis voted no, marking the board’s first split on a major decision. McGinnis cited concerns over committee structure and direction rather than the appointment itself.
Lakota School Board in West Chester re-employed 222 teachers for the 1974 75 year. Superintendent Herbert Henderson notes this excludes administrators and new hires. The board accepted the resignation of Amos Little Liberty custodian after 37 years, and reviewed four building insurance bids from 12,808 to 21,000 dollars.

Liberty Township plans a new life squad with a Doctor Copter heliport at Countryside Mobile Home Park in Butler County. The Ohio Army National Guard unit will operate the Air-10 helicopter from a ten acre site, with landowner approval by Commercial Credit Corp. and school access by Lakota Schools. A meeting in two weeks aims to finalize county emergency coordination as a $16,000 ambulance is added.
Firefighters from Union Liberty townships and Fairfield battled a blaze at the Sheraton Motor Inn near 1 75 and Cincinnati Dayton Road. The fire damaged the northern section including the kitchen and main rooms while 96 rooms were occupied but guests stayed. No injuries reported.
Relief funds totaling 3400 dollars are available through the Union Township Emergency Assistance Association. Project chair Emile Munch says the money can cover immediate needs from goods to services and may leverage vendor prices. Butler County Common Pleas Judge Fred B. Cramer rules three Monroe probationary police officers completed six month periods and are entitled to permanent appointment. Plaintiffs Martin Wilbur Donald Faris and Donald Dillman alleged Mayor Gordon Reed arbitrarily refused appointment. Judge Cramer found the mayor did not counter the officers' claims of proper probationary completion.

Navy Reservists and Miami University ROTC students, plus active duty personnel, descend to clear debris and repair the Long property, underscoring the Navy’s tradition of taking care of its own.
