Trenton Man Killed In Union Township Motorcycle Crash

Glenn F. Johns, 33, of Trenton dies at the scene when his motorcycle is struck by a southbound station wagon driven by Arthur Little, 37, in Union Township on Ohio 747 near Tylersville Road. Little is in fair condition with a fractured leg and facial lacerations.

March activity shows 42 arrests, 47 new cases, 111 complaints, 37 grand larceny or breaking and entering, two armed robberies, eight auto larcenies, 12 CB radios valued at 1920 dollars stolen, and 41 auto accidents with eight injuries across township roads.

Kindergarten Signups Planned at Hopewell Liberty Union

Hopewell Liberty and Union schools will hold kindergarten registrations Friday April 23 from 9 30 to 11 30 a m in each campus. Parents should bring birth certificates and immunization records for polio diphtheria tetanus whooping cough and measles. Children must be five by Sept 30 and first grade registrations are also available for those not previously enrolled.

Fire department resignations spark board dispute in Liberty Township

Five members of the Liberty Township Fire Department and Emergency Squad resign over the dismissal of two colleagues by Fire Chief Henry Taylor. A dispute with Sheriff Reed was raised at two trustee meetings, with the board deferring to the chief to settle the matter within the department. The Union Liberty Journal will not publish the two letters from Chief Taylor and Reed, citing a desire to avoid a name calling battle and to keep the issue departmental.

Union Township Receives Bicentennial Certification

Union Township Police Levy Off Ballot in June

Union Township trustees announced a legal ruling requiring 90 days to place a 1.5 mill police levy on the June 8 primary ballot, delaying the measure. The levy will instead appear on the November ballot. New patrol officers were sworn in and town departments added staff under the CETA program.
