Four Suburbs Seek Admission to Ukiah Fire District

Petitions signed by enough residents in four suburban districts request a special election to decide their inclusion in the Ukiah Valley Fire district. A hearing was scheduled for 2 p.m. January 2, with the date for the election to be set at the next supervisors meeting. The areas mentioned are the Younce subdivision Regina Heights Coyote Valley and the Hollow Tree Lumber Company vicinity.

No Need to Spin Cotton Fabrics

Cotton fabrics now are being made by several American manufacturers without spinning and weaving. A carded web of cotton fibers is held together with light application of invisible plastic and the resulting product looks and feels like soft flannel. The unspun fabrics have dozens of uses in such products as napkins, dust cloths and permanent wave end wraps.

Noyo Port District Granted Temporary County Loan

The Noyo port district directors won county board approval last Friday for a temporary loan of 1500 dollars. District Attorney James Busch advised the board that the loan is legally permissible while the port district secures a 40 thousand dollar return on its 4 million dollar assessed value under a 10 cent maximum rate after next July.
