Power Pole Falls on Mendosa Car Near Point Cabrito

Mendosa of Mendocino was rushed to Fort Bragg Community Hospital after a power pole toppled across a car near Point Cabritto lighthouse around 2 30 A M. The patrol report was not on file. two people were pinned in the wreck and Mendosa’s injuries are described as severe but not critical.

Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show Opens Friday

Boonville hosts the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show for a three day run starting Friday September 28 with more than 53000 dollars in prize money. Exhibits include beef honey stock apples and fruit products plus a Flower Show Arts and Crafts Rodeo and Horse Show and many art and music programs. Entertainment features Joyce Dahl and her Western Band Hilo Hattie Revue Ralph Rawson and a large vaudeville carnival night lineups on Friday Saturday and Sunday.

De Soto Driver Fails to Stop After Boonville Collision

On Boonville road seven miles west of the Redwoods highway a De Soto driven by William J. Hatcher of Boonville sustained minor damage after a curve meeting an unknown car. The other driver fled the scene. Hatcher reported the accident to Patrolman Nunnery.

Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show Friday to Sunday

Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show runs Friday September 28 to Sunday September 30 with gates opening daily for viewing of exhibits and judging. The schedule includes vaudeville acts by Hilo Hatti Joyce Dahl and Ted Billings organ recitals by Katherine Kay rodeo horse shows a parade and all day carnival by Roberts Amusement Co and Arts in Action events.

Dulles Sees Egypt Solving Suez Through Patience

Secretary of State Dulles said Egypt will accept interdependence obligations if Western powers refrain from drastic action. He warned that failure could dry up Egypts foreign credit while noting renewed Israel Jordan violence and U N Security Council action. The U S is ready to implement canal bypass plans within a week if Egypt closes the canal.

Walter Sandelin To Address Scout Roundup

Lieut. General Robert M Young will attend the Sonoma Mendocino Area Council Boy Scouts Fall Round Up at Two Rock Ranch Station Petaluma on September 29. Opening at 1 30 p m with remarks by Walter Sandelin and Ray Ewan, events run to 5 p m with demonstrations by Sixth Army Area units.

Air Force Opens New Recruiting Station in Ukiah

The Air Force opens a recruiting station at 107 W. Perkins Ukiah on the south side of the courthouse. Sergeant Vic Gressot will work five and a half days a week promoting new programs for Mendocino County youths. Recruits may choose a guaranteed technical school and undergo pre enlistment testing. Basic training at Lackland AFB is four weeks with K P eliminated. Local enlistees include David L. Barnes Raymond V. Haws and George C Autagne.
