Baxter Navy recruiter takes Ukiah post in Navy office

Chief Shipfitter Franklin E. Baxter U S Navy assumes the Navy recruiting branch station in Ukiah replacing Chief Engineman Jerry Wahm He will recruit for the area Baxter a 10 year naval veteran served with the military advisory group in Korea and most of his time on destroyers in the Pacific Fleet He can be met at 413 S State Street weekdays 830 to 5 Saturday 830 to noon or by calling 462 5947 Cartoonist Charles Schultz earned 90 the first month his Peanuts strip was syndicated 500 the second month and 1000 the third month In 1966 he was estimated to earn 300000 a year from the daily strip plus other income A three foot alligator spent 30 hours uncaged near the San Diego Zoo before being spotted by a Hawaiian couple who led to the recovery of the gator stolen Tuesday morning from its pen.
