Board Denies Plea to Amend Beach Access Ordinance

Robert L. Raymond of Little River failed to sway the Mendocino County board after an hour and a half hearing. He sought to strip minor property divisions from the beach access requirement, arguing the current rule exceeds the state Subdivision Map Act and burdens coastal landowners. The board, citing work and consideration behind the ordinance and concerns about evading the law, voted 4 to 1 to sustain the planning commission and deny the amendment request.
