Arab states endorse Lebanon peace plan

Cairo hosts Arab leaders who back a cease fire and deployment of a 30,000 man Arab peace keeping force in Lebanon with deterrent powers. The Riyadh package also calls for studying southern Lebanon and possible Israeli involvement while Syria and Lebanon tensions persist.

Plane crash kills two locals near Pearce Field airstrip

A Beechcraft Bonanza piloted by 53-year-old Frank Allen Woods and 55-year-old Helen R. Prosser, a Lower Lake flight instructor and Walnut Creek realtor, crashed and burned while nearing Pearce Field. Woods, on a biannual flight review, and Prosser died. the aircraft was approaching from the south during an emergency landing procedure practice.

Northwestern California sees fair weather through Tuesday with patchy low coast clouds and a slight warm up on Tuesday. Tonight local gusty northerly winds may affect coastal areas with Fort Bragg at 45 to 62 and Ukiah at 40 to 73.

Noyo Harbor project bill signed by President Ford

President Ford signed the Rivers and Harbors Omnibus Bill allowing the Corps of Engineers to modify the Noyo Harbor project with limited deepening widening and extending. Ford and Dole Campaign Swing At Carter In Final Week

President Ford and Senator Dole crisscrossed the nation attacking Carter and outlining their positions. Ford in San Diego touted four million jobs in 17 months and warned against inflation rising with spending. Dole in Presque Isle called Mondale dangerous on defense and urged a strong America, noting Carter’s defense cuts. Carter remained in Plains Ga, spoke with religion questions, taped a fireside chat, and questioned biblical literalism and earth’s creation.
