Mendocino Supervisors to reconsider My Ranch zoning plan

Tuesday the board accepted the official canvass showing 9,832 ballots cast on Oct 5 for the My Ranch referendum. The ordinance failed with 7,682 No and 2,134 Yes, 16 ballots invalid. no majority existed.

Ukiah School Bond Aims At New High School Outline

Ukiah Unified officials cannot present a blueprint or site yet for a proposed new Ukiah high school due to lack of funds for drawings and models. They must secure voter support before plans can be drawn and site negotiations begun for a modern facility and possible renovations to the existing campus.

Westport District Receives County Match for Water Project

Supervisors approved 1500 dollars from the county flood control and water conservation district to match 1500 dollars raised by Westport County water arrick on a dollar for dollar basis. Completion of engineering studies by December could unlock federal and state funds for a municipal system.

Major banks cut prime rate to 53-4 percent in coordinated move

Morgan Guaranty Trust Co led a rate cut to 53-4 percent from 6 percent for commercial loans. Chase Manhattan and Citizens & Southern Nationals Bank of Atlanta followed quickly. Banks cite market conditions and lower funding costs as reasons while urging further reductions under the Nixon administration plan.

Boundary realignments and hospital funding aid Lake County

Lake County supervisors approved a $75 600 advance from the special district fund to Redbud Community Hospital to ease long standing money troubles. The move tags the county as treasurer for the district and allows tax based advances under dry period financing. Boundary changes also realign Mendocino County supervisorial districts to balance population across five districts, affecting precincts in Ukiah Willits Fort Bragg and coastal areas.

Ukiah Rain Totals Update From Local Fire Department

The Ukiah fire department reports 0.18 inches of rain fell Tuesday and last night, bringing seasonal rainfall to 0.70 inches. Rainfall this time last year stood at 0.14 inches. The United Press International forecast calls for clear skies tonight and Thursday.
