Young golfer Dobson, Jr. shoots hole in one at 16

In Enid Oklahoma Joe Dobson Jr aged 16 becomes the youngest golfer to ace a hole in one. The 155 yard fourth hole at Meadowlark golf course on July 4 1955 marks the record as reported by United Press International. A Bay Area basketball opener is also noted as Detroit visits San Jose for a Friday night game.

Ukiah Rodeo Delights Fans At Garbocci Ranch Event

David Payne won the 12 under high point trophy and Sandy Florence claimed the 13 18 high point trophy at the Garbocci Ranch Gymkhana rodeo staged by Mrs Louis Garbocci and Rex Minton. Eight young riders competed in the 10 under singer stake pace with Vicki Garbocci taking first. Jerry Philbrick won the saddle bronc riding, with Dave Johnson and Chuck Semit taking second and third. Philbrick also won the wild cow riding event. Leila Davis edged Lori Oakley in the girls barrel race after a deadlock, Leila winning the trophy flip.
