Supervisors oppose MSH as prison site

Nature Conservancy Wins Tax Suit For 75 123 Dollars

Nature Conservancy won a property tax case against Mendocino County. A Superior Court judgment ordered the county to refund about 65,000 dollars in back taxes for 1967-68 through 1971-72 plus 7 percent annual interest. The county board of supervisors ordered payment of back taxes and interest, with 10,123 dollars transferred from the contingency fund to cover the amount.

Supreme Court to rule on infamous crime voting ban in California

The U S Supreme Court granted certiorari in Richardson vs Ramirez allowing Mendocino County District Attorney Duncan James to argue the case. Ramirez an ex convict was denied registration in 1972 and the California Supreme Court ruled disenfranchisement for infamous crimes constitutional under equal protection.
