Feibusch seeks voter support on city participation in the NCPA electric power development fund. Hays argues the council action was administrative and not referendum eligible. The council will discuss ballot wording and arguments at the next meeting.
Warren Chapman, 51, found guilty of second degree murder in the 1975 Salmon Inn shooting of Robert Parducci after a second trial in Noyo Harbor. Jury deliberated five hours. sentencing set for Nov 4 with probation report pending. Chapman’s defense argued lack of intent amid alcohol and health issues.
Trustees authorize president and district attorney to seek clarifications from the California Junior College Commission on Athletics about code wording on coach prospect contact. The plan requests probation lifting or abeyance until code intent is clarified, arguing current wording may infringe on student and coach speech rights.

Dan Sabatino won a close three way race to become Mendocino College student body president. He leads a slate including Mark Mann vice president and Bertie Moran secretary along with other officers. The election filled roles after a Monday Tuesday vote and Sabatino attended the trustees meeting as a new student representative.
Senator Robert Dole charged the administration is trying to intimidate him after he released a secret State Department cable questioning U S intervention rights in a canal emergency. He urged full access to negotiations documents and condemned alleged coverups.
UPI reports a 0.5 percent rise in wholesale prices for September, the largest gain since April and a sign that inflation stability may be ending. Prices paid to farmers fell 0.2 percent, the fifth straight decline, but the drop was smaller than August's 4.3 percent fall.
