Ukiah Truck Driver Held for Attempted Theft
Albert R. Bickerstaff a 36 year old Ukiah truck driver is in the city jail facing charges of attempting to steal a 500 transmission from a wrecked truck at the Ukiah Motor Sales yard on Clay and Main streets early today. Sergeant Dallas Stipp and Officer Loren Hunt heard a nurse in the yard during patrol at 3 am and stopped to investigate. Bickerstaff was found hiding in the yard and admitted trying to steal the transmission to pay a hospital bill.
