Ukiah parks attracted a record 92,370 visitors this summer, up 17 percent from 1963, with barbecues, picnics, playgrounds, and an extensive aquatics program led by Recreation and Parks Director Dave Strong. The pool offered Learn to Swim and other classes, with 37,632 participating in aquatic activities, a 20 percent rise from 1963, and Learn to Swim saw 726 registrations. There was also growth in school playground programs at Nokomis and Frank Zeek, tennis classes, and broader participation across youth and adult programs, despite a cooler season and nonheated pool.
