Ray mond Hudson urged education of the educable retarded during a luncheon of the Mendo Lake Medical Auxiliary at the Palace Hotel. The Thirty Shop, opened in August, funded by AVARC, refurbishes donated items for sale to employ retarded adolescents, with profits supporting a planned Sheltered Workshop. The county seeks a program developer as funding advances. The Silver Ball benefit dance on December 4 at Carl Purdy Hall starts the fundraising.

The Television Improvement Association of Ukiah will not resume service today as contributions lag. The group seeks 18000 dollars for the 1964 65 translator system season and will wait for the final needed donation. Contributions can be made at TV dealers Redwood Valley Shopping Center or the TIA Office 164 Washington Street. Directors urge remaining members to renew over the weekend with the office opening briefly Sunday.

Calpella Youths Arrested for Stepmother’s Car Theft
Acting on a tip from his step mother, whom he had manhandled, a 15-year-old Calpella youth and a same-age companion were arrested by Mendocino County sheriff's deputies on auto theft charges. The driver was also charged with possessing a deadly weapon, a bicycle chain taped at one end. One youth was sent to Juvenile Hall, the driver held for CYA parole violations.

Heavy Fog Triggers Multiple Ukiah Area Accidents
A morning fog shrouded Ukiah area roads causing two one car crashes and, with excessive speed and improper riding, two more single-vehicle incidents yesterday. Frances Bailey 31 of Santa Rosa lost control on Highway 101 six miles south of Ukiah. her passenger Betty Smith 33 sustained minor injuries. Ray Hunt 28 of Ukiah remained unconscious after his car left the freeway and hit a sign. Carol Burton 11 of Redwood Valley was injured on East Road near Road B when she slid from a car driven by 19-year-old Carolyn Chimele. John McWharter 48 of Talmage lost control of a motor scooter. Patrols continue to investigate causes.

Agnes Broaddus 59 wife of County Clerk W J Broad dus died in a local hospital after a long illness. She was born August 22 1905 in Ukiah a daughter of George Ferguson and Louella Redemeyer. She worked at Mendocino State Hospital until retirement. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Eversole Mortuary with burial in Ukiah cemetery.
