Record turnout seen in Ukiah precinct spot check

A early morning spot check of 11 central Ukiah precincts shows turnout surpassing 41 percent when counting in person and absentee ballots. At 11 a.m. 731 voters cast in person and 138 absentee ballots raised total ballots to 869 of 2116 registered. The Big Oaks Trailer Court precinct led with 276 registered, Pomolita Precinct 18 had 123 votes cast before 11 a.m., and Precinct 8 had 7% cast.

Johnson Goldwater race dominates early election results

New Bridge Projects In Mendocino County Planned

Highway plans include a one mile new alignment on Highway 1 to replace Mallo Pass Creek bridge with a reinforced concrete arch culvert about 11 miles north of Point Arena at an estimated 870000 funded by county highway money per district engineer Sam Helwer. A second project calls for replacing a deficient overhead on Highway 101 over NWP tracks 1.4 miles south of Hopland at an estimated 170000.

Ukiah-Boonville Road Closures Schedule Notice

Road closures on the Ukiah-Boonville Road run 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. 9:15 a.m. to noon 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. 2:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Roads open at 7 a.m. Westbound travelers from Ukiah should budget about forty minutes from Highway 101 to the work start.

UPI reports California election data with 8,184,151 registered voters including 4,736,906 Democrats and 3,182,397 Republicans. Turnout expected about 1,301, based on Network Election Service at 90.85 percent. 31,498 precincts in 58 counties, 12,607 in Los Angeles County. Most counties use paper ballots. voting hours 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 12 counties till 8 p.m. Presidential ballot features Johnson and Goldwater. other races include Salinger vs Murphy for Senate, 38 U.S. House seats, 80 assembly seats, 20 of 40 state senators, 17 propositions.
