Coast residents press for TV service in Little River Albion

A group led by Thomas St Hill appeals to the county board to require TelePrompTer Cable TV to serve Little River Albion as a condition of its Ukiah license. ADA Steen calls it one of the most difficult legal questions to date while TelePrompTer cites cost and timing barriers. Fire calls report two small blazes and one wood chip fire

Fire dispatches list three incidents Tuesday including a garage roof fire at Eugene Davis home on Grove Avenue with minor damage and probable cause as children throwing matches. A grass fire at Stegemann Motors on North State Street was extinguished on arrival, followed by a wood chip fire at Clara Avenue near the railroad tracks causing no damage.

Storer Chosen Ten Mile District Judge by Board

Fort Bragg hospital administrator Hal Storer was selected unanimously by the board of supervisors to fill the Ten Mile Judicial District judgeship, succeeding Robert Heeb. The decision came after an open session vote though earlier personnel deliberations showed division over candidates Richard Petersen and Paul Bance. Storer, 55, a Ukiah native, has a background in PG&E sales and Fort Bragg Furniture Mart ownership. he will resign his hospital post and must run in June 1974 for the two year unexpired term.

Mendocino Coast recreation district faces no tax power

A county official said the Mendocino Coast recreation district has no taxing power without a proper tax election. Resident Ray Benjamin accused the formation vote of illegality, but Assistant District Attorney Tim Steen found the election legal.
