Detroit boxer Lucian Banks, 24, lay unconscious and in critical condition after being knocked out by Leotis Martin in the ninth round of a 10 round heavyweight bout at the Arena Philadelphia. Dr. Alfred Ayello reported a severe cerebral concussion and said Banks struck his head on the canvas, later rushing to Presbyterian Hospital. Banks had a 20-6 record before the bout. Martin stood 14-1.
