Prison Escape Attempt Fails at South Carolina Facility
Three inmates in the Central Correctional Institution disciplinary unit seized two guards as hostages in a dawn escape bid. Two inmates surrendered after about four hours, releasing the guards unharmed. authorities searched for Roy G. Lindsey who earlier escaped and was recaptured in Oklahoma. Lindsey and two others faced lengthy sentences for armed robbery, larceny, and voluntary manslaughter.
