Secretary Dillon Highlights Tax Cut Revenue Boost Projections

Treasury Secretary Douglas Dillon told Congress a $10 billion federal tax cut could lift state and local tax revenues by about $2.9 billion annually through higher personal income. The estimate, prepared for the Senate House Economic Committee, assumes a $40 billion GNP rise and shows varied gains by state, with 1965 as the full impact year. Douglas cautioned against new levies by state legislatures but noted tax and debt trends worsened since 1950.
