British hijackers steal 2.1 million in gold bars
In Islington London a gang blinded the driver and overpowered guards to hijack a Royal Mint bullion van. They dumped the van after removing 140 gold bars valued at 2.1 million dollars, owned by N M Rothschild and Sons for the Bank of England. Two guards suffered injuries and were hospitalized.
