Zodiac hints at 12th victim in Lake Tahoe snow

San Francisco police report Zodiac, the killer linked to six slayings and claiming 17-plus victims, sent a postcard with newspaper clippings and a photo of a snowed Lake Tahoe village. It suggests the 12th victim lies “around in the snow” near Lake Tahoe. Donna Lass, 25, who vanished in September from South Lake Tahoe, is a suspected name. The card was sent to Paul Avery of the San Francisco Chronicle and released by the paper.

Revival Planned at Laytonville Church by Evangelist Morrison

The Rev. Oscar Hines of Laytonville Assembly of God Church announced a Sunday revival to be led by Rev. A. J. Morrison. Morrison, a pastor evangelist missionary musician and singer, will present slides from foreign countries. The public is invited.

The sheriff department investigates grand theft of an outboard motor and gas tank from a boat at Lake Men Docino marina reported by Santa Rosa resident Larry Woolf. Loss valued at 230 dollars. boat was left adrift after the theft.

Nelmes Smith to retire after five decades at Ukiah bank

W Nelmes Smith, longtime Bank of America Ukiah branch manager since 1941 and former vice president, will retire April 30 ending a career starting in Elk Grove in 1924. He plans travel but will always consider Ukiah home. His successor will be named soon.

Clara E Brown, 91, Santa Ana resident dies

Clara Eva Brown 91 of Santa Ana died Tuesday in Santa Ana after living in Ukiah 30 years and moving to Santa Ana in 1966. Widow of Ben Brown who died in 1958. Survived by three children George W Stone Holly Layton Tripp and Edith Louk, plus grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Zimmermann Mortuary with Dr. E W J Schmitt officiating and Ukiah Cemetery burial.
