Mary Elizabeth McKillip 90 of Ukiah died at a local hospital. A rosary will be recited Sunday at Zimmerman Mortuary at 7 30 p m. Services Monday at St Marys Catholic Church Ukiah with burial in Ukiah Catholic Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters Honora Cloutier and Helen Dunnagan 12 great grandchildren. Burglary reported at island cabin in Gualala $297 93 loss plus $300 damage. theft occurred in first two weeks of March.
Ukiah city council approved a two year renewal of the concessionaire contract with the same church group that ran stands at Giorno Park and the Ukiah Swim Center. The contract expires in December 1972 and staff recommended renewal after the group fulfilled commitments to provide refreshments at Anton Stadium complex and Ukiah Swim Center events.
A Redwood Valley man, 26, Jack Michael Blandford, was described as in satisfactory condition after a head on collision on Highway 101 north of Squaw Rock. His southbound car struck a northbound vehicle driven by Phyllis Ann Michaelson with Enid Ambrosini as a passenger. Ambrosini and Michaelson had satisfactory conditions with minor injuries for Ambrosini. Blood was flown from Sonoma County to Ukiah for Blandford. Police say Blandford attempted to pass another southbound vehicle when the crash occurred near a sharp curve.
Monday features cake decorating at Ukiah High School and folk dancing at the Municipal clubhouse with several evening options. Tuesday lists golf luncheon at the Municipal clubhouse and Needle Craft at Ukiah High School. Wednesday includes needle craft and cake decorating sessions, plus the Ukiah Ski Club. Thursday covers church basketball and the County Peace Officer meeting. Friday hosts the Mendocino County Singles Club at the Municipal building. Saturday includes church basketball league play at Pomolita gym.
Ivy M. Bering 63 of Airport Road Little River died of apparent natural causes Thursday shortly after noon at her coast home. Next of kin is husband George P. Bering. Funeral services are under Cannarr-Fairlee Funeral Home Fort Bragg.
Officers of the California Highway Patrol investigate three accidents in outlying areas reported this morning from Ukiah. In Mendocino John Reese, 79, was hit by Cyrus Johnston, 26, and treated at Redwood Coast Hospital before release. Donna Finlon, 19, lost control near Willits, injuring passenger Richard Engel, taken to Howard Hospital. Clarence O Connor, 65, San Francisco, drifted off Highway 175 east of Hopland, injuring Alberta O Connor. Also reported: missing chainsaw from CBS Building Supply Covelo during Monday business hours, value $189.95.
