Sacramento reports the state AG is reviewing the fatal December shooting of Michael Ferris, a 20 year old UCLA student, with more information sought from informants. Deputy AG Edward P. O'Brien said additional data is needed before conclusions are drawn.

Georgia Pacific pulled its request to remove 222 acres from agricultural preserve status after a public hearing. The company claimed the land was placed in preserve by mistake during a 5000 acre approval and said a youthful employee erred.

Steven Lee Davis 24 of Ukiah was arrested after a citizen reported marijuana plants at his home. Det. Roy Mathers seized two portable planters with numerous young plants. Davis awaits trial in city jail with evidence tied to the case.
Deputies and security officers from Mendocino State Hospital hunted the reservoir near the Talmage dams for Cecil Taylor reported missing after disappearing while swimming Wednesday afternoon. Divers faced murky water and failed to locate him as witnesses said he went under and did not resurface.
Mendocino State Hospital held Tony Waxon on San Quentin death row after a judge granted a temporary restraining order. Legal Services lawyers argued that post death-penalty changes and insanity rulings require a court hearing before any transfer to a correctional facility. Judge Tim O’Brien set March 17 for a hearing.
