Four Costello siblings from Santa Rosa undergo open heart procedures for holes in the heart walls at Stanford Medical Center. Richard and Kevin, the first two operated, are reported in good condition after procedures by Dr. Norman Shumway and Dr. Edward Stinson. David and Karen await their turn as the family seeks to extend their lives by 15 to 20 years.

Graveside rites for Bob Banzhaf set for Monday
Graveside services for Robert O. Bob Banzhaf 56 of Redwood Valley will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Ukiah Cemetery conducted by Abell Lodge 146 F and AM. He died June 23 in a single engine plane crash while en route from Aniak to Anchorage. He is survived by wife Dorothy mother Gladys and brother Burton. Eversole Mortuary in charge.

A jury acquitted 20 year old Timothy Lee Trumble of felony drug possession after a two day Ukiah Superior Court trial. Det. Sgt. Larry Maxson and Roy Mathers testified about a mobile home search and vent scene leading to a pill box with drugs. Trumble denied any possession as Public Defender Joe Allen defended him.

Rites Pending for Drowning Victim Arnold McPhail
Funeral arrangements are pending at Jones and Lewis Mortuary for 28 year old Arnold McPhail of Daly City who drowned at Clear Lake near Whiterock while swimming. Coroner's deputies say the cause of drowning is unknown and the body was not recovered until Tuesday evening.

Ukiah Pool Plans Fourth of July Open Hours
Ukiah Municipal Pool will open for public swimming on July Fourth from 1 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A weekend closed period for public swim will occur as Ukiah Soroptimist Club and Ukiah Dolphins host a two day invitational by the Redwood Empire Swim League from 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Hundreds of swimmers aged 6 and up will compete for medals trophies and ribbons.
