A Long Colorful History For Frontier Days
A 1926 plan by Willits American Legion Post 174 launched Frontier Days with profits pledged to Willits Community Hospital. The project leased 20 acres, built a race track and grandstand, and planned wild horses and stagecoaches. The 1927 parade featured Legionnaires, scouts, and a hospital ground breaking. By 1932 the event passed to Willits sponsorship due to workload.
