Downtown committee prioritizes parking and streets over courthouse removal
Ukiah downtown revitalization committee chair Lee Enemark told the Greater Ukiah Chamber of Commerce that improving off street parking and streets is more important than removing the courthouse. New trial sought for Burris in manslaughter case
Attorney Joe Allen will seek a new trial for Phillip E. Burris in Dept 1 of Superior Court before Judge A B Broaddus at 9 30 a m Thursday. The motion alleges the county clerk's office errors caused the jury to receive inadmissible documents. Burris and co defendant Michael E Betts were convicted of fatally beating Albert M Wagar during a robbery. Kevin Smith testified with immunity. Fatal shooting near Clear Lake Oaks investigated
Deputies seek clues in a possibly accidental fatal shooting of 25 year old Pamela Adrienne Schlegel near a remote trailer northeast of Clearlake Oaks. Schlegel died at the scene from a chest gunshot wound after a friend, Rickie Fearn, 39, returned to unlock the door. initial statements place the shot near the van where she waited.
