All-Stars Start San Francisco Examiner Tryouts in Santa Rosa

Ukiah players join the Northern California tryouts at Doyle Park in Santa Rosa at 6 p.m. tomorrow night. Veterans Jim Layne and Jim Hayes, with possible participant Jay McAllister, may lead the local high school and junior college stars seeking to prove themselves with extra effort. Tryouts run 8 to 10 p.m. after a baseball school from noon to 8 p.m. for 18 to 15 year olds. the school and tryouts are free. Friday Vallejo hosts tryouts from 2:30 to 6 p.m.

Seals Give Coach New 3 Year Pact

SAN FRANCISCO UP I Bud Poile today announced a new three year contract for veteran hockey mentor Bud Poile to coach and manage the Seals of the Western Hockey League. Seals president Mil Swig also announced arena seating at the Cow Palace would be lowered and increased from 13 786 to 14 186. Training for the Seals will open Sept 12 or Sept 23 in Edmonton.

Homers Boost Pony League Win Over Chevrons

The Chevron Pony League fell 16 to 7 as Antor Jets slugger Gary Simmons homered in the sixth, aided by three runs and a late rally.
