The Mendocino County Superior Court issues notice to creditors of Tolbert J Biggerstaff deceased and names the administratrix Geraldine Biggerstaff. Multiple fictitious business name statements are filed for local Ukiah businesses including Henri’s Coiffures and The Letter Shop, with proprietors Hannah Slembrouck and Thomas A Shannon and Dolores R Shannon. Bulk transfer notice lists Cordel P Langley dba Redwood Coast Lumber Co as transferor to Counters Pacific Corporation with June 30 1971 transfer date. Public notices list several other local businesses and owners with county filing dates in June 1971.

Golden Gate Arabian Horse Show draws riders to Santa Rosa

Mendocino County and Oklahoma enthusiasts travel to the Sonoma County Fairgrounds for the 13th annual Golden Gate Arabian Horse Show with shows at 1 and 7 30 p m on Saturday and a Sunday finale. Prizes range from 50 to 300 dollars per class along with trophies and ribbons. In other items, Charles Crawford Jr 55 of Talmage was jailed for drunken driving after a 2 10 a m arrest at Talmage Road and Foster Court. Vandals damaged a Redwood Valley Mustang with sugar in the gas tank. A Ukiah man 20 and another Redwood Valley man 18 were jailed on malicious mischief and reckless driving charges. Potter Valley school windows shattered by air rifle fire valued at 430 dollars. Damage believed to have occurred the night of June 15.

Rites Saturday for victims of drowning

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Round Valley High School auditorium for Sherman Sargent Jr. 17, who drowned Wednesday near Dos Rios. He was a Round Valley High School class of 1972 student and had lived in Covelo 14 years. Survived by parents Sherman Sargent Sr. and four sisters and a brother. Rev. Ray Davis to officiate. Anker-Lucier Mortuary handling arrangements.

Purse Theft Reported In Ukiah Case

Minhie Alexander, 71, of 6600 Eastside Road, Ukiah, was the theft victim after leaving her purse in a shopping cart at a local store. Deputies said the purse, containing about $92, was missing when she reached home and a store check found no sign of it.

Williams runs for Ukiah council in June 29 election

Williams Chap Williams, candidate and owner of Foothill Market, is among 11 running for Ukiah city council. A native area resident, he is a 1935 Ukiah High School graduate who studied at Santa Rosa business school. He managed Foothill Market since Sept 1970 after 23 years with Swift and Company. His uncle H. B. Smith was Ukiah mayor for 16 years and helped acquire Todd Park. The Williams family donated land for the public library. Chap serves on the city planning commission and supports youth baseball. He and his wife Bonnie reside at 857 S Oak St with a married son and daughter.
