Ford Gravel Surges Past Jets in Extra Eighth Thriller

Ford Gravel won 9 6 over Anton Super Jets after three runs in the extra eighth. reliever Jay McAllister earned the win. Rich Wolny pitched seven innings in a strong start but took the loss despite solid mound work. A two out misplayed third strike sparked Gravel’s late rally with White, Forthaber, Foster, McAllister and Parducci keying the offense.

Lakeport Colts Roll To 47 3 Win In Baseball Night

Lakeport Colts overwhelmed Hollow Tree 47 to 3 in a Colt League game at Lakeport last night. In Ukiah, Sporting Goods edged Masonite 9 8 with Dennis Gwinn driving the rally. Pony League action at An ton Stadium saw Sporting Goods beat Crawford 6 3, with Ronnie McElroy and Harding pad contributing two singles and a homer. Rocky King fanned once, walked five, while Ken Godec struck out 10 with five free passes. Larry Parduzci fanned nine in a nine batter spell before leaving due to injury, Tommy Holmes finished with eight K’s and 12 walks as he relieved for Sporting Goods, Mike Hill added Masonite’s only hit.

Hunter Safety Course Saturday in Ukiah

Ukiah youths ages 12 to 16 may take a hunter safety course Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club range. Don Scotto of the Ukiah Police Department administers the program for the police chief with backing from Rod and Gun and Rifle and Pistol Club.

Injured boxer Ernie Tubbs in Pensacola worsens after brain bleed

In Pensacola a 20 year old welterweight from Houston named Ernie Tubbs, unconscious and in critical condition, worsened Wednesday night after suffering a brain hemorrhage in a May 30 bout. He was knocked out in the eighth round and struck his head on the ring apron.
