Pomolita GAA Honors Circle With Block P Awards

Pomolita GAA honored nine girls with 700-point Block P awards at a finals event that also celebrated spring softball track and tennis teams and welcomed new members. North Ukiah Little League leads in production as South falters

In North Ukiah Little League action the Police Association defeated Auto Dealers 19-6, led by John Ready and Chuck Pacini homers. The Chefs beat Lions Club 9-7 as Bill George doubled twice for the Chefs. The North tied 10-10 with Box Plumbers in extra innings, highlighted by Bill Heath’s triple and two doubles.

Clear Lake Area Largest New Coop Wildlife Project

The Interior Department announced three national cooperative land and wildlife management areas in California totaling about 134000 acres. The largest, Clear Lake, covers 112089 acres across multiple counties and will be managed with input from the Bureau of Land Management U S Fish and Wildlife and California officials.

Seals Acquire High Scoring Center Ed Panagabko

SAN FRANCISCO UPI Ed Panagabko a pain in the nets to the Los Angeles Blades in 61-62 will join the San Francisco Seals for the coming campaign. Ukiah Junior Golf Club announces a two round youth event at Ukiah Municipal Course aimed at beating Gene Littler 75 score during National Golf Week. Pro Winston Howe says 44 cent fee allows juniors to play twice tomorrow, with handicap allowances counted. Lakeport Jalopy Class Switches to Sportsman Cars for Season

Lakeport promoter Tom Hamner announced the jalopy class at Lakeport Speedway will switch to Sportsman stock cars for the rest of the summer season. Rules stay the same except the claiming provision is removed and the season champion can earn a trip to Daytona Beach Speed Weeks with expenses paid. Last week 41 cars competed as Bob Neilson won the 20 lap feature defeating Ned Smiley who trails in points.

AAU Meet Ends With New Marks at Delano

In Delano California the Central California AAU track meet set meet records in the high jump and two mile. Champion Richard Jones of Bakersfield cleared 6 ft 6 1 2 in to improve his own high jump mark. Bob Stout of Central California Athletic Club ran 9323 4 in the two mile to establish a new record.
