Ford and Chaparral set pace at Le Mans trial

Bruce McLaren of New Zealand and Mark Donohue of the United States led the 24 hour Le Mans trial in a Ford, clocking 3 minutes 24.4 seconds for 8.3 miles at 146.9 mph, besting Phil Hill and Mike Spence in a Chaparral 3:24.7 at 146.7 mph and the late Lorenzo Bandini’s record.
