Planners Split on Jughandle Creek Monument Proposal

County planners debated a 1000 acre Jughandle Creek national monument with a three mile long coastal staircase. Dr. Hans Jenny urged approval while owners of local land questioned compensation and rights, a 4 to 3 vote favoring redrafting for a supervisors review.

Oak Manor subdivision units approved by Ukiah planners

City Engineer Al Kruth reported final maps for Units 2C and 2D of the Oak Manor subdivision were approved without comment. The commission also authorized a negative environmental impact declaration for a five unit Elm Street project and ordered a full EIR for the Nokomis Acres Marwen drive extension, with a public hearing set for July.

Skylab crews avert cooling crisis with emergency fixes

Ukiah Class of ’73 Holds Sunday Baccalaureate Service

Accreditation team visits Mendocino College progress observed

An accreditation team from the state’s junior colleges visited Mendocino College in Ukiah to assess progress on summer sessions and first full year programs. Officials expect possible full accreditation only after the first two-year graduates, while current students will receive credit consideration. Summer sessions run July 2 to August 10 at Pomolita and Lower Lake sites.
