Five major areas including development recreation education industry agriculture and youth will be discussed at Ukiah High School this Saturday. Topics cover city pride new small business planning auditorium plans Lake Mendocino recreation and youth employment among others.
Sen Ron Collier plans a Mendocino Coast visit Sunday to inspect the Ten Mile dunes and Mendocino Headlands. He recently introduced legislation to have these areas acquired by the State Department of Parks and Recreation and will be guest of honor at a reception hosted by Mr and Mrs Thorkild Thomsen, Mendocino Conservation and Planning Foundation chair. Reservations required for the reception.
Donald Borges, 21, of Ukiah, was booked at county jail on a forgery felony. Bail set at 1250 dollars. The county declares surplus personal property to be sold as is for cash with taxes and title transfer costs. Inspect vehicles at County Garage, School and Henry Streets.
Whitney Darjany a 44 year old Ukiah resident was slightly injured at 7 10 am when his eastbound car on KUKI Road was rammed by a light pickup driven by Richard Britt 24 of Ukiah Britt reportedly wandered before the impact Darjany refused hospitalization.
Ukiah Elks present a new flag to the city council, led by Exalted Ruler Jim Langton and George Sullivan. Council approves opening meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Councilman Jack Simpson. Sullivan notes the flag as a symbol of heritage and freedom.Buxton explains pledge meaning to Council and Channel 13 viewers, drawing applause. Elks announce Flag Day program and rededication on Monday June 14 at 5 p.m. in McGarvey Park, open to the public.
The Mendocino Coast District Hospital schedule sets June 30 as the tentative opening after plans were finalized for ceremonies on June 26. Officials hope to admit patients by June 28, with a 48 hour public inspection delay potentially pushing the opening to June 30. board chair Alvern Sawin emphasizes staffing the facility by mid June.
The Mendocino-Lake Credit Union Chapter holds its monthly dinner tonight at the House of Garner. The 7:30 p.m. dinner precedes the meeting with program officer Brian Bennett saying the session will benefit Mendocino and Lake County credit unions.
