Mormon Pavilion to Feature Angel Moroni Statue at 1864 World Fair
New York report says the Mormon pavilion will crown a gilded 8½ foot fiberglas statue of the angel Moroni atop its exhibit at the 1864 World's Fair. The statue uses the Salt Lake Temple model, with Cyrus Dallin’s plaster version as guide, and the exhibit theme is "man's Search for Happiness." The church notes Moroni’s supposed continental life over 1,500 years ago and contrasts the Utah temple statue’s 12½ foot height.
