Bids Called for Ukiah Boonville Road Project

District Engineer Sam Helner announced bids were called for grading base and seal coat on the Ukiah Boonville Road between 0.8 and 4.2 miles east of Boonville. Bids open in Sacramento on July 8. Mendocino County forces under J K Richardson chose the project design and will provide most supervision. About 1 061 200 dollars is available including 528 943 Federal Aid Secondary funds 286 879 state match and 245 378 county funds. Completion will bring the 18 mile route to adequate alignment standards. Construction will require traffic delays up to two hours with a schedule to be publicized before work begins.

Chamber Adds New Members Keep Pace Progress Report

Pickup Driver Frank Stanford Leaves Line After Rollover

Frank Stanford, 52, of Windsor, escaped with minor injuries Monday afternoon when he lost control of his pickup on Highway 101, three miles south of Squaw Rock, rolled it, and totaled the vehicle, the California Highway Patrol reported.

CORE Tactics Bank In Protest At Bank of America

CORE demonstrations resumed at Bank of America in San Francisco after the bank pledged to publish its hiring policies for minority groups. Two 'Hard Cases' Listed as Escapees

John Lyman aged 27 and Roy Raymond Sexton aged 31 escaped from Parlin Forks Honor Camp last night, according to the sheriff. Lyman, 5-8, 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, was serving time for assault with attempt to commit murder in Fresno County. Sexton, 5-11 180 pounds, was jailed for first degree robbery in Tulare County. They are the second and third escapees from the camp in 72 hours.

Funeral No 13 Anniversary Planned by Burlington Farmer

In Burlington Colorado Jim Gerhart, 87, a bachelor farmer, will hold his 13th annual funeral at the state armory tomorrow. He first staged the event in 1951 to mock relatives and spent about 15000 on a banquet with guests beside an open copper coffin. He may marry on the anniversary but has not decided.
