Jughandle monument resolution passes amid timbered disputes

Woolgrowers weekend get-together in Boonville Fairgrounds

Mendocino County Woolgrowers Association hosts a family day at Boonville Fairgrounds with lamb barbecue and chili beans, sheep dog trails, lamb scramble for kids, trap shoot, spinning and weaving, sheep shearing by electric and hand blades, and Landrace sheep demonstration by Hopland Field Station. Ehrlichman denies clemency promise in Watergate testimony

Drug charges filed in Willits man's death case

A 30 year old Willits woman, Andrea Evangeline Hernandez, is charged with murder after the body of 23 year old Manuel Michael Vlahos was found last week in a shallow grave northeast of Willits. Authorities say Hernandez possessed marijuana and dangerous drugs during booking. Bail was set at 40000 dollars following arraignment in Ukiah Justice Court. Autopsy results were not yet filed.

Board shifts highway priorities to local commission

County to receive watershed land with conditions

Mendocino County will obtain a quitclaim deed for over 400 acres of watershed land from the states Department of General Services formerly owned by Mendocino State Hospital. Firemen Contain Sawmill Scrap Pile Blaze

A morning fire at 4 a.m. in a redwood bark scrap pile near the Louisiana Pacific sawmill north of Ukiah was brought under control by 5 a.m. Ukiah fire department with three units and 25 men fought the stubborn blaze, aided by mill workers. Mill manager Lowell Ambrosini suspects spontaneous combustion as the cause.
