British Ambassador killed in Dublin bombing assassination
British Ambassador Christopher Ewart-Biggs and a 27 year old secretary Judith Cook were killed when a land mine exploded beside his blue limousine near his Dublin residence. The attack, linked to the IRA, also injured Brian Cubbon the Northern Ireland secretary and chauffeur Brian O'Driscoll. Police described a remote detonation as the car passed over the mine.
